Thomas Weber

Thomas Weber is Principal Scientist Catalyst Development at Shell Projects and Technology / Criterion Catalysts and Professor Solid-State Inorganic Chemistry at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

Thomas studied chemistry at the University of Bielefeld, FRG, and obtained a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Achim Müller. After a postdoc in surface science with Prof. J.W. Niemantsverdriet at TU/e, he joined the group of Prof. Roel Prins at ETH Zurich for a habilitation in technical chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. In 2002 Thomas was appointed Privatdozent (Associate Professor) for technical and inorganic chemistry and stayed in this role until 2010.

From 2002 - 2007 he acted as an inorganic chemistry advisor for catalyst preparation at Akzo Nobel (later Albemarle Catalysts) and as a consultant on computational catalysis for Shell Global Solutions. In 2008 Thomas joined Criterion Catalysts, the catalyst business of Shell Global Solutions Downstream, where he leads the global innovation program and contributes to R&D programs across the entire catalyst portfolio. Thomas is a member of several professional organizations and president of the Dutch Catalysis Society.
