Eelco Vogt

Eelco Vogt is the Director of R&D for Albemarle Catalysts BV. He studied Chemistry in Utrecht, and holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis from the same university. His career in R&D started in 1988 with Akzo in Amsterdam. Akzo later became Akzo Nobel, and in 2004, the Catalysts Business Unit of Akzo Nobel was sold to Albemarle Corporation. In the 20 years since his start in R&D, Dr. Vogt has thus experienced a number of very different environments, from starting as a research scientist in a large Dutch-Swedish chemical company, to leading a large group of researchers in a smaller US-based chemical company. He also spent three years in the Houston, Texas R&D labs for Akzo Nobel. He has served a number of years as board-member and later as chairman of the Catalysis Section of the KNCV, is a board member of VIRAN, the industrial advisory board the Netherlands Research School on Catalysis, NIOK, and a member of various program committees in Dutch industry-government-academia consortia, like ASPECT, NIMIC, and CATCHBIO. He is married, and has three daughters.
